The Bereng villagers of Baglung district have introduced a new program for discrimination between children and children, safe delivery and building a brighter future. The villager said that the villagers have planned to deposit the money in the child's account for 20 years at a rate of Rs. 100 per month when the daughter is born. If a son is born, he will deposit a thousand into the child's account only once. This requires fulfilling certain conditions of the villagers.
President of the VDC Krishna Prasad Poudel said that the pregnant women will be included in the bright future only if the pregnant woman gets regular health check-ups at the health institution, childbirth at the health institution and childbirth within 35 days. "This is a small start, although it may seem normal, but it is a big step towards ending discrimination," said Chairman Poudel, "This program benefits from a secure future, safe delivery, and the education of daughters in many areas."
In order to get the facility provided by the villagers, the parents of the infant will also have to deposit one hundred rupees in the daughter's account with the villagers for 20 years. Ramesh Thapa, chief administrative officer, said that if the daughter does not pass class 8, if she does not pass the age of 20, she will withdraw the money collected by the villagers. This feature will be applicable for children who are born to two children. Thapa said that since the third child, the villagers will not help in the bright future savings as many children will be prevented from growing.
According to Thapa, the mother of the infant should reach 20 years of age in order to get this facility even if the baby is less than 20 years of age within the same month. "We not only save the daughter but also eliminate the practice of getting married before the end of the discrimination of the children," Thapa said. Along with this program, the villagers have introduced nutritious bags for pregnant women.
Padam Bahadur Pun, head of the health branch, said the program had been started through five health posts and three community health units within the five wards of the village. According to her, for the first time pregnant women in the village have been provided with a nutritious bag. In a nutritious bag, the seeds of iodized salt, rye, radish, coriander, beans, body are kept.
Head of the health department, Pun, said that consultation was also given on the occasion to encourage women to take safe births in health institutions and to provide green vegetables, iodine-rich foods and food to the women by encouraging regular abortions. Pregnant women have benefited from the Nutrition Bag program.
