Kathmandu - Medical colleges under Kathmandu University (KU) have demanded additional fees for students and their parents who have been admitted to study in the current academic session. Representatives of the college have met with parents and students to 'bargain' for more fees.
One of the parents complained that the management side of the college had come in contact with the MBBS for an additional Rs. According to him, the security deposit and the internship fee has been asked for Rs. He further demanded an additional Rs 2 lakh for exams, admission fee, Nepal Medical Council and university registration. "The university had called for contact, and there were representatives of the college," the parent told Kantipur, adding, "The medical education commission demanded higher fees than were paid." The internship is only for the final 5 years of MBBS education.
He said the college had given psychological stress to the students and parents by demanding extra fees without getting in touch with the college. According to the decision of the Medical Education Commission, the first installment fee will be deposited in the account of the university and further demand is made.
Nepal Medical College, Jorpati, Kathmandu Medical College, Sinamangal and Nepalgunj Medical College operators have openly demanded more money in connection with KU. Other colleges have also complained of parents and students demanding extra fees in the rotation. Students and parents have appealed to the Medical Education Commission after demanding charges that education was not started. KU was asked to contact the guardian who passed the entrance examination and submitted the first installment amount for admission. The college seized the opportunity and met students and parents and demanded more fees.
A student at the School of Medical Sciences, Dhulikhel, said they discussed meeting the student and his parents separately and charged more. According to him, the college administration and liaison office have been demanding additional fees.
The Medical College, which had affiliated with Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University, had already written to the Commission, demanding that additional fees be levied on various topics. In response, the Commission warned against taking more than the stipulated amount. Deputy Commissioner of the Commission, Shri Krishna Giri confirmed that the colleges have been corresponded for no further charges. The parents informed that the deputy commissioner and the officials were informed about this.
The Commission has fixed the tuition fees of MBBS and BDS for the academic session 2076/077. In the Valley Medical College, MBBS will cost Rs.
