Sailung Trip

Sailung Trip

Sailung Trip
Whenever someone asks me about the weirdest landscape of Nepal, my answer will be presently Sailung of Dolakha. Yes, the beautiful rolling hills and 360 degree panaromic views at the height of the mountains all around, this place is a really pleasant experience. More than a visit, this place is an experience. Wilderness experience, a unique landscape, beautiful people, and beautiful rhododendron forests.

I went to visit Sailung during the peak period of the spring season, so there were rhododendrons of variable colors blooming all around. Dew drops were still frozen on the heavenly meadows. Hibernating animals were trying to get out of their places, everything seemed like it was on the verge of new beginnings, my heart was also on the verge of new beginnings. The beginning of a new experience, as every journey begins with everyone.

Sailung is a region located in the border region of Dolakha and Ramechhap districts. Most of the area is located in Dolakha itself. The place was named Sailung because it has about a hundred small hills that roam the entire place like grass of heaven. After climbing to a certain height, the only thing we can see is the hills around and also the mountains surrounding the landscape. It is also famous as a Hindu religious site for Selungeshwar Mahadev, a form of Lord Shiva, looking out over the Himalayas.

Sailungs living around Kathmandu can be a beautiful destination for a few days. This place is especially very close to Kathmandu. Whenever someone talks about Dolakha, Kalinchauk and Jiri, the most discussed places are. I came to know that very few people knew about Sailung. This place can be reached via a motorable road which leads upstream from Mud, Dolkha. The best way to complete this journey in a concise but excellent way is to travel from Muse to Dhunj. After spending a night in Dhunge, the next day you can go to the Sailung hills to watch the golden sunrise. The journey from Kathmandu to Mood takes about 5 hours. From Mud, there is about 26 kilometers to Dhunj, but due to poor road conditions, it takes about 2-3 hours to reach there. There are very limited hotels for stay in Dhunge. You can live there in the local way of life and enjoy interacting with the people there. We were overwhelmed by the heat by which we were reacted by the people. We stayed in a hotel that night, it was cold and windy but the stars were lit in the sky.

SailungNext In the morning, we left Dhungi for Sailung. The hike went through beautiful rhododendron forests and small streams of water. It took us about 3 hours to reach our final destination of Sailung. When we were just about to rise, we reached Selung. We could see the hills rolling in front of us with the drops of dew shining in the first golden rays of the sun. As we looked back, we came across the entire Langtang range, Mt. Gaurishankar glows red and yellow on his peaks. It was more beautiful because there was no one else besides us. It was a complete solitude, a beautiful one. It was a cold morning at an altitude of 3200 meters at Sai
lung. We ran through the hills, took pictures, saw the mountains and just rested on the amazing creations. It was indeed a very beautiful place.
