Tansen is the most famous hill station in the western part of the Palpa Himalayan country Nepal, a small ancient hill town located 4300 meters above sea level. It is situated on the way from Pokhara to Lumbini. The major attractions here are ancient culture, excellent hill views, serene atmosphere and friendly people. It is situated on the way from Pokhara to Lumbini which is 270 km from Kathmandu Valley and 125 km from Pokhara. A picturesque hill town nestled in the lap of Srinagar hills, Tansen is the headquarters of Palpa district and the center of Nepal's mid-west culture. The district varies in height from 250 to 2,000 meters. The city has houses influenced by traditional Newari architecture. The original language named "Tansen" is in the Magar language, which means "Northern Basti." Palpa, with its diverse culture and religion, falls in the twelve manger regions of western Nepal. The beautiful view of the mountains, clean environment, friendly people and ancient culture is the main attraction of Tansen, Palpa. From here you can see the highest peaks of Nepal including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Mansalu on clear days. Dhaka - Nepal's most popular hand-woven fabric comes from this region. Nepali Topi (national cap) is made from Dhaka and you can see the weavers working on their looms or see a market in Dhaka in Tansen.

Palpa Ranighat


Visit the ancient building (Mahal) set on a huge rock on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River to see the palace gardens, stone walls and a small temple. The palace was built in 1892 by Governor Khadka Shamser in memory of his wife Tej Kumari, often called the Taj Mahal of Nepal.

Tansen Durbar / Palace


In the center of the city is a 64-room palace, which represents the art and craft of ancient Palpa. On the saddest morning of 31 January 2006, Nepal's Maoist rebels launched attacks in Tansen for no apparent reason. He fought with local authorities and bombed many ancient buildings including the Palace which held government offices.Tansen Palace has a good reputation and popularity. In fact, the Singh Darbar of Kathmandu (a place for Nepal's top ministers to live and work inside this safe complex, and also where Nepal's parliament office is located) attracts the heart of Tansen Palace. International as well as domestic tourists on this beautiful hill.


Tanahu


Tanahu is a beautiful mountain town, located about 20 miles (32 kilometers) southeast of Tansen, which is loved by a road. It is the favorite destination of the city of Tansen. Tanahu offers views of beautiful natural forest, farmland and mountains and valleys. One can enjoy here, Rambha Forest, Rimbha Lekh and Kaud and Hatti Talab.

Bhairabsthan


6 miles of easy trekking from Tansen takes you to a beautiful place, the Bhairabasthan Temple. From here you can see the Himalayas including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Machhapuchhare and see cultural attractions. The temple has a large trident (trident), and receives a large number of visitors every Saturday and Tuesday.
